Earth 400 Years Hence

The world is full of optimists and pessimist, with different ideas, hopes, dreams, and expectations about a plethora of things. Nothing is more indicative of whether someone is an optimist or a pessimist as what condition they believe the world will be in 400 years. An optimist would say with the help of science and innovation we have conquered hunger, disease, and have helped bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, the wealthy and the disenfranchised. These things are entirely possible, if collectively we choose to put our minds and resources into it. The world could be a place where discrimination is nothing but a stark reminder of earth’s stormy past. Things on earth will never be perfect, but why should we strive for perfection? After all we are nothing but human. Humans are not perfect, nor are we meant to be. A perfect world would only lead us to being numb, numb to the pains and the joys that make us human. An optimist would say we can get close to perfection without ever reaching it. The pessimists among our ranks would say that the world will be left it utter chaos, with people living in constant fear of nuclear annihilation, with countries fighting wars, and leaving their people to starve. Innovation will cease, and nation states will have ultimate control, monitoring individuals with closed circuit television and secret microphones, they may even learn to read your mind. Control of the masses will be practiced until it becomes perfect, and society grinds away to make the lives of the few at the top easier than any working man or woman could imagine. All I can say, is that the world will not be great, nor will it be awful. People will adapt and find people to love, and with these things they will pull through. The world odds may be in their favour, or against it, empires may fall, but the people will remain strong. The people will overcome.
