The Burden of Technology
Having been blessed to grow up around nature and have the forest, the beach and countless other adventures surround me, I fell more than comfortable calling myself someone who likes the freedom of the outdoors. The thrill of the elements. The biting of the cold. The scorching of the sun. I am this way currently, always have been, and don't plan to change. Having always been the type of person who spent my days playing hockey in the road, or football at the park. I spend upwards of 25 hours a week doing competitive sports and several more playing games of pickup at the park or my whatever friend is game to partake. Spending hours upon hours on the computer "socializing" is not something that sounds enjoyable even in the slightest. There is very little you can experience that would remove you from your comfort zone, and those little red numbers on your facebook page won't lead to anything you'll look back upon and say "Those were the good old days" you forget what happened within a week and move on to live you're mundane life staring at the screen. To be completely honest, blogging feels kind of phony, i expect that no one will read this, and that i am putting my thought somewhere on the vast intraweb will do nothing for me. I can only write things that are so personal for after, it is the internet. Anyone literate can read this. Living outside, it's where the vast majority of our forefathers spent their time, and where all other animals find their comfort. But for some reason we try our hardest to isolate ourselves from it, save the few of us who spend their days skiing, and go down to the beach on rainy days living our lives the way it should be done. I have to say that recently there has started to be a certain amount of distance that i have put between myself and the outdoors, and I loathe it. Receiving more text messages and facebook updates those are two things that manage to complicate my life beyond belief. I've been meaning to deactivate both, but I don't have the courage to isolate myself from everyone like that. So until the day that I do, there will be a part of me that remains miserable, not living life to its fullest extent, going for and adventure then instead of curling up with a book and listening to the radio, the more hectic world of Facebook, Twitter, Blogger and texting will continue to haunt me.

Kudos for you for figuring it out at such an early age of the value of physical activity over the sedentary. The interesting thing is I can look at my class and spot the kids who are physically active and the ones who are not. I am not surprised you spend so much time in competitive sports. You look mentally alert in class and it is proven through research that involvement in exercise improves academic performance. Keep it up. The only phony aspect about your blog is this "fragrance lamp" thingy.
